Heylo, everyone!
I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to today's game... Pool games I've tried in the past have had a track record of being finicky, poorly designed things. and I suck at them. Probably mostly that last part, really.. >.>; But Championship Pool is definitely one of the former!
For those who don't know, Championship Pool is a billiards game. And if you don't know what billiards or pool is..then..um.. look it up? ^.^; Right away when the game started up I had a feeling it was going to be terrible, though... The music you hear is a really poor quality blues tune that just kinda goes on and on and on..
Granted, I'll give the game credit for having a lot of options.. Freeplay, Tournament play, challenge shots, and party mode for those who want to play with friends! And it even has a variety of different ways to play pool! But once you get past that there's just nothing worthwhile... >.>; Oh, wait, yeah, there is one thing. When at the table, hit start, pick "jukebox," and then press left on the D-pad until you reach "Music off." This was the only way to really try to play and not lose some of my sanity!
There wasn't really anything to this experience that was good.. I keep harping on the music, with good reason, the visuals aren't anything pleasing either.. It's really just rather ugly... And the controls aren't very intuitive! Like, most pool games I've played you line up your shot, then you enter a "Power meter" thing, where you can also put on some English (Or spin, as it might otherwise be called~) and then you time it and make the shot and stuff! In Championship Pool, you line up your shot, and if you hit A again, you make it. You have to hit Select to change your power. >.> And I'm not sure you can put on any English at all... But really, the select button? One of the most annoying buttons to have to press? You're not doing anything with L or R! If you had to go and make it a separate thing like that, why couldn't you pick one of those?!
This just...Seriously. Really. Truly. Bitter bitter bitter bitter! If you wanna play pool, find another game! Or go find a pool table in the real world! ...That isn't surrounded by intimidating men already playing it so you just kinda wait your turn but by the time they're done playing you've already left... >.>;
